YCF was originally incorporated as Allen County Hospital Foundation to support the work of the Allen County Hospital which, at that time, was leased to Health Midwest, a not-for-profit hospital corporation based in Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri. In March of 2003, Health Midwest sold all of its hospital assets to the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), a for-profit hospital corporation. Because the Allen County Hospital Foundation was a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation, it could no longer directly support the operations of the Allen County Hospital while it was leased to HCA. As a result, in December of 2003, the Allen County Hospital Foundation amended its Charter to change its name to Allen County Health Care Foundation (ACHCF) and dedicated its ongoing work to serving the broader health needs of Allen County.

When the new Allen County Regional Hospital project got underway in 2010, the ACHCF served as the charitable organization through which fund raising for the new hospital took place. During the hospital capital campaign, over $2 Million dollars was raised by numerous community volunteers to purchase equipment for the new hospital.

During the course of raising funds for the new hospital, ACHCF qualified for a grant from Kansas Health Foundation to support the growth of community foundations in Kansas and, in June of 2012, changed its name to the Allen County Community Foundation (ACCF) and expanded its mission once again. The KHF grant provided a match for any endowment gifts made to the foundation. During the course of the grant, YCF received over $400,000.00 from KHF to support the ongoing mission of our foundation which holds those endowed funds today. The endowed funds generate income each year which is then used by the foundation to make grants for the betterment of the community. As ACCF grew, it began to work with other counties adjacent to Allen County and in July

2016, amended its name to the more inclusive “Your Community Foundation” by which it is

known today.
