Betty Johnson, CFRE, president of Betty Johnson & Associates, has over 40 years of fundraising and nonprofit experience. During her nonprofit career, she has worked with various types and sizes of nonprofits. Her work has included fund raising, marketing and communications, and staff and volunteer management to complete outcomes to grow and enhance the organizations. Collaboration and teamwork have always been key to the success her teams have enjoyed.
Her work as a consultant has included various types of nonprofits including social service agencies, community development, agricultural organizations, hospitals, churches, libraries, community foundations, schools, and art organizations that have local, regional, state, and national constituencies. She has traveled the country working with donors, corporations, and foundations to create partnerships and funding to enhance nonprofit organizations. Her style and personality allow her to relate to people of various backgrounds and experience.
She has asked for and received gifts of all sizes including 7 figure gifts. Working with individuals, corporations, and foundations to secure gifts, Johnson has used special events, annual giving, major giving, and estate giving methods. . Throughout her career, her success has been partially due to her ability to work with producers in Kansas as well as corporate CEO’s and successfully complete the goals of the organization. She specializes in working with staff and volunteers to create a team for project success; training board members, volunteers, and staff; and managing capital and endowment campaigns. She has successfully secured major grants from numerous national foundations and corporations.
A graduate of Fort Hays State University, she is a past chair of the Fort Hays State Alumni Association. She is a member of the Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership Program (KARL), Class V; a member of the Association of Philanthropic Counsel, and is a past chairman, and has chaired various committees; a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals; and is a Certified Fundraising Professional (CFRE) since 1997. Johnson has spoken at numerous regional, state, national, and international conferences on development and nonprofit management. She is an AFP Master Trainer, Certified Strategic Doing Facilitator, and trained in TOP facilitation.
She has trained 1000’s of volunteers and staff for nonprofits on topics centered around nonprofits enhancing their organization and development growth with a team concept of staff and volunteers working together to make their plans and dreams become reality. She is also working with community volunteers utilizing Strategic Doing to implement projects and ideas to enhance their quality of life and economies.
She grew up in rural northwest Kansas, is an active volunteer, and the mother of 3 sons.
