Planned giving

Keep 5 in Kansas:

The Keep 5 in Kansas Campaign is a statewide initiative aimed at helping individuals and families keep a portion of their wealth within the state through charitable giving. By encouraging people to invest in their communities, the campaign seeks to retain valuable resources that can be used to fund local programs, enhance public services, and support initiatives that benefit future generations. The "5" refers to the concept of keeping 5% of the wealth created through individuals’ estates within Kansas to support local charities and foundations. By doing so, residents can be confident that their contributions will benefit the very communities they call home, creating a sense of unity and long-lasting impact.

Why Planned Giving is Essential for Community Foundations

Planned giving is the process of making arrangements to donate assets to a charity, nonprofit, or community foundation after one's passing or at a later date. The beauty of planned giving is that it allows individuals to leave a lasting impact on their community, even beyond their lifetime. When people think about giving back, they often focus on immediate donations, but planned giving allows for much larger contributions. It can be in the form of bequests, charitable gift annuities, trust arrangements, or life insurance policies. The benefit to the donor is that these contributions can reduce estate taxes, while the community foundation benefits from long-term funding that supports our work in perpetuity.

How Can You Get Involved?

If you are an Allen County resident and want to explore how planned giving can benefit both your estate and your community, there are a number of resources available to help. Community foundations  provide personalized guidance to help individuals structure their gifts in a way that aligns with their goals and the needs of their community.

To get started, reach out to Your Community Foundation to learn more about the Keep 5 in Kansas campaign and how you can make a difference. Whether through a bequest in your will, a charitable trust, or another giving method, your contribution will help keep Kansas strong and ensure that future generations continue to thrive.

By joining this campaign, you’re not only advancing Your Community Foundation’s mission to enhance the quality of life in Allen County, you’re also helping to ensure a vibrant future of philanthropy in our community.

Legacy Society

The Legacy Society is a group of individuals who have chosen to include a planned gift to their community foundation in their will. We are deeply grateful to these generous individuals for their commitment to leaving a lasting impact on our community.
